Nominate: Local Heroes Awards
Here’s your opportunity to recognize the hard work your favorite food and farming organizations and businesses have put into championing farm fresh, locally-produced food in the Louisiana. Edible New Orleans's annual Local Hero Awards are “people’s choice” awards, nominated and voted on by you, our readers, which makes this award all the more meaningful to the recipients.
Online public voting is now open for the Local Hero Awards through April 15, 2016.

Any Louisiana food or farming organizations and businesses located within Louisiana are eligible to be nominated.
Nominees for the Local Hero Awards should demonstrate leadership in our communities in the following ways:
- Responsible environmental and social practices
- High quality products and services
- Positive economic impact
- Commitment to building a robust local food system
Awards are granted in the following categories:
- Farm
- Bakery or Sweet Shop
- Bar
- Culinary Historian
- Restaurant
- Food or Beverage Product
- Culinary Organization
- Market
- The Edible New Orleans Cast Iron Award 2016 recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in the realm of good food work in the New Orleans area, and who are creating a more robust local food system.
How are finalists determined?
After the nomination period closes, edible staff compile all nominations. Up to ten nominees with the most votes from each category will move on to the final public voting round, which will be announced on May 1, 2016.
How are the award winners chosen?
We determine winners through an online public voting which will run May 1 - May 15.
