THE HOT PLATE
Ramen at Noodle & Pie
Though our Asian noodle soup of choice has traditionally been pho or ya-ka-mein, the ramen craze that recently hit America has not completely bypassed our city.
Noodle & Pie, a pop-up that turned into a full time restaurant, is a superb place to perfect your slurp. As we’ve come to realize, ramen made in a restaurant is a far cry from the packets we ate in college. The robust broth is full of chewy noodles, a variety of vegetables and delicately cooked protein like pork shoulder, egg or tofu. A recent standout dish was the Shio Crab and Pork Bowl. The salt crab broth, braised pork belly, charred corn, greens and soft egg made the dish rich, creamy and absolutely satisfying.
