What New Orleans lacks in snow during the winter holidays, the Roosevelt Hotel makes up for in tiny white lights. The hotel is at its finest during this season, when the outside temperatures drop (sadly, the humidity doesn’t) and the entire lobby drips in sparkles.

The coffee shop boasts an enviable gingerbread house, while temporary stands in the lobby sell decadent hot chocolate (choose your own toppings, such as shaved chocolate or peppermint whipped cream), hot buttered rum and other winter classics.

If you can muster a seat in the bar, grab your Sazerac or be a bit festive with throwback Pink Squirrel, the rose-hued cousin of the Grasshopper, as you admire the scene and dream of a white Christmas. Then raise your glass to the fact that you don’t have to shovel any of the white stuff out of your driveway.
