In addition to a weekly farmers market, The French Market includes regular dining and shopping.

Before the proliferation of modern grocery stores, The French Market was part of an extensive open-air market system that provided New Orleanians with access to fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and other comestibles. Today, it’s America’s oldest public market.

In mid-October, our beloved market took a step back to its roots when it hosted its first weekly Crescent City Farmers Market. This means that the city now has a farmers market running four days a week, each in a different neighborhood. As lagniappe, there will be music and cooking demonstrations at the French Market iteration.
