Why We Love It: Alan Walter is a cocktail geek of the coolest order. When he’s not holding court behind the bar, perfectly coiffed and pouring gorgeous drinks into a curated collection of vintage glassware, you might see him cruising around town in his blue '65 Pontiac foraging for ingredients to make his signature syrups, bitters, and bar tinctures. Walter’s page-turning cocktail menu is grounded in the often-obscure ingredients he sources from ethnic markets, backyards, local botanists, florists … even beekeepers. Loa is a scenester lounge, but manages to feel cozy and intimate when you’ve got one of Walter’s coupe glasses in hand.
