Why We Love It: If the $3 gourmet doughnut isn't your thing and you just want a really (really) good classic doughnut, head to Gerald's Chalmette or Arabi location for doughnuts loved by generations of born-and-raised locals. (You know ... the yat-kind who bleed black and gold.) This is the opposite of a hipster doughnut hangout. Gerald's is open 24 hours and serves a fine 2 a.m. breakfast and burgers, too.
