A New Orleans classic for gelato and cannoli: Angelo Brocato Gelateria in Mid-City
Why We Love It: It’s a New Orleans institution. For more than 100 years, the Brocato family has scooped Italian gelatos and granitas for generations of locals, from the original French Quarter location (which closed in the 70s) to today’s vintage Mid-City parlor (which took on five feet of water after Katrina and re-opened just 13 months later). If you’re not too busy in line catching up with the neighbors, take a second to scan the room for lovebirds. There’s nearly always a pair – old and new – canoodling at a table. Brocato’s is that kind of place. Oh, and don’t forget to take home a box of cannoli.
